Staying fit during the summer may be a daunting task, but Brookhaven College offers a few ways to help keep those extra pounds off.
The Brookhaven athletic equipment room contains various gym equipment, including weights, treadmills and exercise bikes. The athletic equipment is open to any Dallas County Community College District student with a valid DCCCD ID. Those who wish to use the weight room do not have to be enrolled in summer classes.
Brookhaven also offers a jogging course that is available to the public. Currently, part of the trail is obstructed by the construction of the new Science and Allied Health Building. The trail runs two miles around the perimeter of the campus and has a partly-rubberized surface which helps relieve pressure on joints. The trail also contains emergency call boxes along the route for safety.
Due to the death of former equipment room coordinator Don Cockrell, the summer hours of the room have not been determined.
